bhoget

How can I control the background image, the height and width and border of select/dropdown in css?

.DropDown {
 padding:3px 5px;
 height:20px;
 width:260px;
 background: #FFFFFF url(../images/txtbg.jpg) repeat-x left top;
 border: solid 1px #999999
}

I use the above css class to make my form elements have the same background and a uniform width and height but I can't get it to work with the select html tag. Is there a way to customize the select option tag and be compatible with IE6, IE7 and mozilla browsers?

Thanks

Form elements are almost always a nightmare to style equally in various browsers.

To get started, here is a great repository of examples (screenshots) of how 11 different browsers respond to 12 different css properties applied to 6 different form elements:

If I have time, I will check your specific problem later.

Thanks for the information. I already made a change to the design of my form elements. Anyways it would be nice if you can provide me with the closest solution to this problem. :)

Bohget!
if u like to work in external style sheet
Create Css file and write this

div.image{
position:absolute;
background-image:url(PATH);
left:10px;
top:10px;
width:300px;
height:500px;
border:2px solid blue;
}

Then in ur html file jus mention div object in this way:

in body tag
<div class="image">
</div>

I hope this is 100% according to ur query.

.DropDown {
padding:3px 5px;
height:auto;
width:260px;
background: #FFFFFF url(../images/txtbg.jpg) repeat-x left top;
border: solid 1px #999999
}
Height are not fixed. You use this class.
