I have 2 versions of Windows on my computer

I did a system recovery on my Compaq Presario and the next time I turned my computer on it said compressed ntdr press alt ctrl delete to restart. That didn't work so I used my friends Windows XP Pro disk to do a restore. All my music and pictures were gone. Tonight when I first turned on my computer there was a line for me to click on Windows Pro or Windows Home. When I clicked on Windows Home everything I thought I'd lost came up. I tried it a few times and then when I turned the computer on the last time, only one version came up. I'm concerned because it seems that I have 2 versions of windows on my computer. What do I do?

If you go to control panel, select System then go to the Advanced tab, click on Settings in Startup and Recovery section
You should then see a drop down list with your current operating systems.

Are there two listed? If not and its just the one then I think what has happened is that you may of upgraded rather than installed a fresh copy of windows.
This sounds like it since you are not getting the two o/s listed anymore.
Part of the install process of Windows, it does reboot and this is probably why you saw the old version temporarily.

Are all your installed programs working correctly?

I suggest you backup all your precious files.

This copy of Windows, has it been registered with MS? You may find that you might need to activate it.
