Is there a limit to the number of frames within an animated GIF?

I wanted to see if there was any limit to the number of frames you can put into an animated GIF.

Im not aware of any. I have made a gif with about 30 frames and have converted a video which has many more.
When I created my gif, I used paint shop pro and I did not see any limit. There might be one, probably one I have not reached. Each s/w you use may or may not have its own limits set.

Bear in mind the use for gifs. The more frames they are the larger the size. Takes longer to load if put in on a webpage.

Sorry, havent quite given you the definitive answer, Im just talking from my experience.
