My computer will not talk to my HP 1210 printer. It was working fine

My HP PSC1210 was working fine until it all of a sudden quit and gave me a "paper jam" error. I removed the access cover and found NO jam or any other problem. Restarted the printer...the error would not clear. I finally had to uninstall and reinstall the printer to clear message. Wlould not print test page or any other print job. Print job just displayed in que and message in printer info window showed "printing" but nothing was printing. When I tried to cancel documents the message would change to deleting, but wouldn't clear que. I would have to restart computer to clear the message. The HP web site was useless when I looked for drivers to reinstall all it said was to use the built in drivers in Vista.
