david

how to include html file in my html page

how do I include an html file within another html file, if I want to use the same header in all the files? I don't want to use any server side language for this, and hopefully it should be easy to index for search engines as well.
Is this possible and how?

How about using frames? You can embed number of other pages within one

eg here is one where there are two rows, and the second row is divided by 2 columns

The sizing is done by percentage
First 20% is the first row and it shows this site
Second row is split in half and shows bbc and itv

Note, you can use your own pages, code supplied is simply an example.

<html>
<head></head>
<frameset rows="20%,*">
<frame src="http://www.quomon.com">
<frameset cols="50%,*">
<frame src="http://www.bbc.co.uk">
<frame src="http://www.cnn.com">
</frameset>
</html>

nidhi, i never got back on this, sorry.
frames would be an option, but i don't like it in terms of search engine optimization. The page would get indexed as separate frames, thus harder to optimize and it's also complicated to keep a good userexperience with this (bookmarking pages, using the back-button etc.)

use the very stylish prototype window class;)
its in javascript and like a desktop window ind your browser.
http://prototype-window.xilinus.com/
But be careful.
The documentation is very bad

thanks for your response, the prototype library looks great.
But how exactly would you accomplish adding an html header? I couldn't see any example for that.
And would it be SEO-friendly?

So what you're saying is that with javascript i dynamically insert html in a specific div on the page?

As I said before, I am concerned about SEO, so would that be an issue that the content of that DIV wouldn't be indexed by a search engine?

In this way u add this description for opening:
<img src="Path"/>
or
<a href="Path">Open this</a>

Thanks, M. Amman, so is that like using Iframes?

Is the src-attribute on DIVS valid in all browsers?

And what about the SEO issue?

David first u create CSS file and write that condition for e.g
div.frame{background-image:url(Pic/1.jpg);}
second in new file just give <link rel="stylesheet" href="ABC.css">
and then pass object of div in this way:-
<div class="frame"></div>
that's it....ok

"Making your site accessible for all is a matter of courtesy, is good business practice, and is not difficult,"
Here's an example using the D-Link:

<img src="graphics/chimpgraph.gif" width="494" height="253" alt="Graph of Number of Chimps in Asia by Location" longdesc="chimpgraphdesc.htm"><a href="chimpgraphfdesc.htm" title="Description of Asia Chimp Location Graph">D</a>

There is a brief example of this on the regular SEO Toolbox site: http://www.seotoolbox.com/spider-friendl.... There is more complete information, with two examples, at: http://www.seotoolbox.com/htmlchat/table...
