remove mapped network drive in windows xp?

i have created two mapped network drives that I need to remove now. How do I do that?
I can only find a way to disconnect them, but not remove them completely.
My operative system is windows xp professional.

from a command prompt, issue the command

net use x: /d

replacing the x with the letter of the network drive that you are trying to remove.

Just right click on the drive and press "disconnect".

thanks for the suggestions.
LonelyWolf, the drives are already disconnected, since I no longer have access to that network, but I get a message when the computer starts up saying that it couldn't connect, which is annoying.
TheFormatter, I'll try your solution...

something I did made it go away or it did so by itself!?
when i was about to use your suggestion, TheFormatter, the drives were already gone...
So split the points between you two :)

Neither TheFormatter nor LonelyWolf answers work. How do you get rid of the connections for good?

Hi,
This is how I did it. First, you need have a "Shared Folder" on your hard drive. If you haven't got one already, create a new folder on your hard drive called "Shared", then right-click it and select properties. Click the Sharing tab and tick the Shared box. Next, click "My Computer" and in the Tools Menu, click Map Network Drive. Notice the little down arrow next to the drive letter shown. Click the arrow to get a list of letters. Select the one you want to delete then browse for your Shared folder and select it. By this means, you will assign the drive letter to a real folder. Make sure the drive will not reconnect at star-up (un-tick the related box). Having done this, highlight the drive in My Computer and press F2, then type a new name, such as "deleteme", but this is just for fun really. Assuming the drive is now connected, right-click it and select disconnect. Ah, I hear you say, but it is still there. True, so now re-boot and have another look - enjoy!
