Can you determine a person's country, region, and city through them visiting your website?

I am looking to create a website where I need to be able to tell a persons Country, State (if in the United States) and the specific city and even area of that city they live in. Are there comprehensive databases of this information so I can use it in my web application? Any ideas of how to accomplish that?

This is a funny game. I am 13 Km to the north of Barcelona Spain.

http://www.ip-adress.com/ - This one shows my correct location

http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm - This one places me 500 Km away to the west, at Gijón, Asturias.

http://www.ip2location.com/free.asp - this one gives only country data of the Telecom bearer, without location placement.

http://www.analysespider.com/ip2country/... - Theese site places me 650 Km to the south west, at the Telecom bearer main site in the country capital Madrid

http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/ - This site places me 300 Km to the west, at Zaragoza

You may try this free Java library from Sourceforge

http://sourceforge.net/projects/javainet...

I have not tried it.

Another funny erroneous site:
http://antionline.com/tools-and-toys/ip-... - This one places me in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Since I am near Barcelona Spain it is about 1230 Km to the north.

So I should go with www.ip-address.com? Have you used it before?

I have not seen any software available at http://www.ip-address.com

They only offer stuff for hiding your IP in order to surf anonymously.

You should ask them which locator software they use

I have clicked at the http://www.ip-address.com to get a bigger picture of my location
and it is not so exact, since it places me some 40 Km to the south-west

It seems that http://www.ip2location.com has solutions for web developers looking to implement this ability on their own website and it runs about $900 per year for it. Thanks for the leads xarcus.
