Click on items in a listbox in ASP.Net

I have a listbox, and I would like an event that fires when someone clicks on an item.

I've tried:

<asp:ListBox ID="List1" runat="server" AutoPostBack="True" OnSelectedIndexChanged="List1_SelectedIndexChanged"></asp:ListB
ox><br />

But when the event fires, List1.SelectedIndex = -1, so I have no idea what the user clicked on.

How can I have an event that fires when someone clicks on the list, and the event know what was clicked on?

Solved it myself - I was an idiot.

I was populating the listbox in the Page_Load. Changed it so it only populated the listbox if (!IsPostBack) and it worked fine.
