I have a website that receives a bit of traffic and I wanted to know what the process is for finding private advertisers to put up banner advertisements on the site. Is there any tool or website out there that connects these two entities effectively?

The Keyword is "Private" here. I am looking for an effective way to find private advertisers for websites, with Adsense Google will get a cut. A large cut.

Orionb, That is a great resource and a great idea on how to get in touch with the advertisers that are relevant to your market, you'll be sure to get points when I close the question. I was hoping that there would be a website that connects these two parties... Do you know of anything?

Again Nidhi, Openads would be a great resource if you already have private ads, I am looking for a website that effectively connects me with the people who want to privately advertise...

ok, sorry about that. When I first read it, I was under the impression it was something private advertisers can get hold of as a resource for them to find. I havent found any such sites that you are after, I think it might be some work that you may have to start off with. To supplement your income from private ads, I think its a good idea to sign up with affiliate schemes. Place a banner on your home page saying "this spot for sale" or something like that. So people surfing would see it and if they are interested, ensure you have something easy to find for them to contact you. Check out http://www.fadinsite.com/showthread.php?... and look at fadplay. Seems a good starting point. Perhaps also start with ad companies like BlueLithium http://www.bluelithium.co.uk/ just to start building a base. Another one is click-share http://www.click-share.com/ You can try build up relationships with people and take it from there. Another possibility is for you to advertise your space. I already mentioned your home page, but what if you put ads in other sites yourself. Check this link out http://natewhitehill.com/how-to-sell-you... it points to digitalpoint, there are also some good points which you can take onboard
