To backup complete OS, I think I need to run from another system. My laptop has 1 drive, 2 partitions. I would like to copy the OS folders from C: to D: then boot from the D: drive and run complete backup of the C: drive with no files opened on the C: drive to block the backup. How is dual boot setup? Can dual boot work on the D: drive?

I dont see why not. I have done dual boots before but with different operating systems. U will need to change boot.ini as well. There is a discussion here, something along the lines that u want which u may find helpful http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic26098.ht...
