How to install new software for my USB port with the New Found Hardware Wizard?

I tried to plug a mouse into my USB port and use it, but every time I plug the mouse or any other hardware into my USB ports it pulls up the New Found Hardware Wizard and says that it cant find the installation software. I didnt think it should be this hard and thought it was just a plug and play, but guess not. Any ideas on how to fix my USB port or what I have to do?

If your mouse is not easily recognized, windows will check for a peripheral with a (Vendor ID, Product ID).

So if you install a driver from your mouse make and model the problem is solved.

The problem may persist if you have previously assigned a different incompatible driver. In this case follow the New Found Hardware Wizard and install it manually specifying vendor and model.

If you have a cd or disquette from your mouse maker play it and follow instructions, or on the New Found Hardware Wizard follow the link "I have a disk" and specify the directory, whith your OS as name, that contains the ".inf" extension files

If not, you have to look at your mouse maker website and download the drivers package, unpack it and follow the previous statement.
