Ive never seen a way round this bar closing and reopening windows.
The one trick I found to reverse your list of windows is to go to task manager to kill explorer.exe (all of them that are running). It should restart explorer then task bar items are reversed!
In terms of software you could try xneat or buttonboogie

xneat http://www.xneat.com/windows_manager/ features a taskbar arranger. Note this is a free product
buttonboogie - I couldnt find a version compatable with windows xp. I assume u are running that
buttonboogie 2 - this version is xp compatable but a couple of sites I found are charging to download it. Just google it to see for yourself
taskbar manager http://www.askarya.com/tm/tm.asp - u gotta pay for this but its pretty cheap for a limited time, if u write a review u can get a copy free

thanks. I have used taskbar manager and it does the job perfect.
Im unable to use xneat at the moment because I am behind a firewall. It seems when u use xneat, it connects to the net to register or something. I dont believe apps should do that automatically. Because it dont connect, the program refuses to run.
Unless u think xneat is okay, I am giving it so far 2 out of 5. I will try it when I get home.
