UltraVNC Bandwith Connection Question

I have two machines connected via UltraVNC remote desktop. They both are laptops and one is running Windows 98 SE. The other laptop is newer and is running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. When I remoteley connect from my machine running Windows Vista to my machine running Windows 98, it works perfectley. When I connect from my machine running Windows 98 to my machine running Windows Vista it will not connect and I recieve a black screen on the UltraVNC connection. Does anyone have a solution to my problem, or an explanation as to why it is happening?

It seems your not the only one with issues like this http://www.neowin.net/forum/lofiversion/...
apparently it works fine as a client. not as a server as you have experienced.

Do u have a router or firewall connected to vista pc? If u have one or both, perhaps its something in there that is preventing u from connecting.

checking the ultravnc forum, it seems ultravnc is not ready to run as a service. They are hoping the next release 1.03 or 1.04 will support it.
What version do you have?

I got this info from here

I ended up resolving the problem myself. The problem was that the edition of UltraVNC was not updated to the one on my Windows Vista machine. I had to update the editions to 1.02. Thanks for the help everyone.

ok, cool. So 1.02 supports it as a server, not 1.03 as mentioned in that forum
good to know
