Website Validation - Dreamweaver.

Hi there. Just wondering if there is a tutorial that will take me through website validation. So that if I submit to WC3 it will be green, not red!

I am essentially a designer so code is not my strong point. Though know a bit but would like to just give my sites that professional touch.

any help would be great!!
Mike.

As far as I know Dreamweaver has functions available as well that can help go through your site and validate it, before you publish it live.
I don't know of any tutorials, though.

mary2, he's asking for html validation, not form validation.
W3C has a service, that will tell you whether the html markup is correct according to the standards (http://validator.w3.org/)

If you are a user of firefox browser then you could use the html valiator addon. It saves u from submitting your site to WC3.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox...

I use both IE and firefox the latter more for the scripts and addons available that I need to use.

Another site to help validate your website is htmlhelp
http://htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/
there are some tips in there which may help u as well as this site

ah yes sorry mary2 i wasn't looking for form validation i'm afraid. all a great help! i've got the firefox add-ons and ie add-ons too but i cant make sense of them! haha. i've also been checking on wc3 too and find all my errors but again, not knowing what i'm looking at tho.

i put yahoo's in that site and t found hundreds of errors so is it essential to vlidate your site??

i read to that dreamweaver puts lots of un-needed code in your site...

it's a shame there are no tutorials for code dummies!

Validating is not essential, but trying to comply to the standards is worth it in the sense that you're making it more probable that it will render correctly in all the different browsers out there and also that it will do so in the future.
But it's no guarantee, and there are still a lot of cross-browser issues that complying with the standards wont resolve.

My experience regarding dreamweaver is that if you don't use it's wysiwyg-tools, i.e. viewing the site in designmode and dragging and placing the html-elements there, you should be fine. The code editor is fine, the validations and ftp access as well. You can use it on a lot of different levels. If you dont have much coding experience, it can help you get started, but you're better off if you can code it by hand.
