What is an average CPU Temperature for a laptop computer?

I've been having some issues with my fans not turning on as often as they should so I downloaded a tool that lets me regulate them manually. Does anyone know what the average normal operating temperature should be for a CPU to run correctly? Also, what is the maximum that it shouldn't hit?

I dont know what kind of average to give. All depends on make/model of your CPU. But I guess max should be around 80 - I think that is.
Look at technibble, it has a list http://www.technibble.com/what-is-my-com...

I agree with nidhi. His/her link is a very good one.

You can also use a chill mat (cooling mat, chillhub). It has fans that keep your laptop cool.

Thanks for the input.

I've been monitoring my computer for a while now and it seems like it overheats at about 80 like Nidhi suggested. It also averages about 45 or so when the fans are on in a mild room.

A laptop with an AMD dual core should range from 49-71 celisius.

I have the same question in my mind also. But for your information, my aspire dualcore 1.7Ghz stated at 50-60celcius when i'm using it normaly in my office room (with AC). is this bad???
I found some information on the net, normal laptop CPU temperature is average higher than desktop CPU. Don't know wether this is correct or not...

it is not the same case depends on the fan speed nd its regularity . my acer aspire works on 36 C in the summers without any ac in my hostel room.....

I have FSC AMILO dated around y2k4. It's w/ Pentium 4 Mobile at 2.0GHz. The laptop has around 59c for baseline, thus it will not go much higher even though lotsa load. It's very quiet aswell. I've replaced original thermal paste once. Don't think my degrees will be of any harm, actually quite normal for a laptop.

The maximum temperature of the CPU is 99 degree celcius. when the actual temperature reaches 100 degree celcius, the Operating system will shut down your computer automatically....

I have a performance asus g71g-a1 pretty much a gaming laptop, has core 2 duo @ 2.53ghz, 9800 M GS video card w/ 512mb video memory, 6GB ddr2 ram, etc. So it has performance my average temp when running idle in the summer is 40c for cpu and 62c on the video card, when gaming my cpu is around maybe 58c and video card is like 75c. Ive been told with a zalman notebook cooler or comparable people get like low 30c idle for cpu and like 50c video card, when gaming like 40c cpu and 60c video card. And all it has stock is heatpipe to a single small high speed fan for its cooling solution, so coolers definately help if you only have one small fan, especially since some don't kick on when they should or don't move enough air. Hope this helps

I have an ASUS A7Cc with Intel Core2 Duo T5500 @ 1.66GHz each.

I have, within the last hour, taken my laptop apart and cleaned the fan and heat sink. I then applied new thermal paste (used Thermalright Chill Factor 2 since was recommended to me) and put it all back together.

I had previously been averaging temperatures between 60 and 90 degrees, but now seem to be getting averages between 38 and 43.

Whole thing took about half an hour to do and cost 11GBP including an air can to blast dust from hard to reach areas.

Fan is now almost silent and the wierd stuff that was happening seems to have stopped for now.

Easy to do and loads of how to's on youtube etc if you fancy having a go. Last time I took it in to a repair shop (of which I know the owner) and was charged 'mates rates' but still cost me 30GBP.

Will save me a fortune now I can DIY since there must be at least 10 more applications of the paste in the tube!!!

Hope this helps.

Fast Solution- buy $1-7 inch mesh spoon/fork try with a 2 inch air gap(ebharblog.org/ashlyn2471451/tag/b000x1jzr0/). Then remove HDD and RAM plastic panels. CPU 10-20F cooler. HDD 20-40F cooler. I also used a 200m slient fan with this to the reach max. coolest.

Slow Solution- Clean you vents with vacuum once a year.

Slowest Solution But Best- Clean dust out and maybe reapply thermal paste.

Hey, are you bothered with the slow internet connection, here is an easy to solve your problem, to install a PC protector or cleaning, according to my personal experience, Tuneup360 is good choice, and your computer takes only 30 sec to start up if you have it!!!

Butter zone for a Desktop cpu I put at 75-80 Degs F Gpu 80-90. I would put a laptop @ no more then 20 percent higher. The G71-g's heatpipe is insufficent for the Q9000 cpu as for the 9800M I would say the chassis design is not thought out as there is no cooling provision for the GPU's heatsink. Under Max load I would put the Temps at double what they should be and early demise of component life is to be expected I regret forking over the Bling Bling cash for this laptop!

Email your G71-G temps to kidrocksbodydbl@hotmail.com as I am going head to head with Asus at this time and the more the data the better the fight!

These people don't know what they're talking about.

Average laptop dual cores core-temperatures idle around 50s'C (Celsius) which is 122'F. At load core-temps can go up to 70s'C. This is perfectly normal for a laptop. For laptop quad cores, add 10'C to the idle/load temperatures.

I too have an aspire laptop, currently idling at 62C which is about average. It used to get up to 70-75, which is far too hot and unusable. Just carefully unscrew the back and get some compressed air to get the dust out of the fan/heatsink area. I was afraid too, but it's not hard.
I used to have a Toshiba Qosmio as well, which had crap cooling. Combined with a dusty, far-from-clean dorm room, it didn't last long. Get to the dust before it gets to you...

Normal temp for a laptop when idle is 40C and when playing games (if you're a gamer) maximum will be 75C depending on the game you are playing. My laptop is a Sony Vaio. So that's how it is for me.
