Hello ladies and gents. I am interested to find the best method to build/add a posting facility on a website, it is something i have not done as of yet but need to research. Features include: 1.) Has a search facility from several drop down boxes 2.) Ability to upload new posts consistently 3.) Ability to add text when selecting a post 4.) Ability to add a dcoument to upload I know this is not a simple question and probably has many answers but what would be the best method in terms of key features for backend design (languages used to build, are databases required, how to oragnise sections on backend) Thanks for your time Regards

It sounds like you need a quite simple solution. The best option is probably to start with a free open source product, since there are many such products that would meet your needs. If you have other needs beyond what's mentioned above or special security requirements, you may want to contract a professional to put things together for you, otherwise, there is a good chance you could read a bit and do it yourself. To start out with something really simple, I would recommend wordpress. It meets your requirements and you could have it up in a day or two. You can try it out for free at http://www.wordpress.com or download it and install it on your own server from http://www.wordpress.org It requires php and mysql if you put it on your own server and you find find out a lot more about requirements from http://wordpress.org/about/requirements/ Good luck!

Just one more note, it does have a search feature, but it is only a text input. If you need "Several Dropdown Boxes" then you may need a custom setup or to hire a custom programmer. l What it does have is the ability to publish articles with uploaded documents in multiple categories. These categories are accessed by links rather than dropdowns and will rate your site higher with google, and make the site more user friendly.
