When I connect to the Internet, my entire computer slows down

Hello everyone,

I installed a Wireless adapter in my computer yesterday, connected to the house's Wireless Router, and everything worked fine. This morning, I connected to the internet and all of my computer slowed down (Paint took about two minutes to load). I looked in the task manager, and noticed that about all of the processing power was used (by different programs). I tried to close several tasks, but it did not help. I restarted my computer, and everything was fine again; I figured that my computer was lagging because of the internet connection. I tried to connect/disconnect, and my computer was slow only while I was connected.

I'd like to know if someone as already encountered this issue, and how it was solved... and here are some of my specs (I don't really know what to include here... if something more is needed, tell me)
Windows XP professional, sp2
Processor: AMD Athlon, 1.01 GHz and 640 Mb of RAM
Wireless card: D-Link WDA-1320 Desktop Adapter

And if it's important, I must use an antenna (2.4 Ghz), because my computer is really far from the router. And the signal is low (~36%).

Thank you

I have windows xp on my computer and I have upgraded my memory from one 512 chip to two 512 chips. I just had a dsl modum installed through cox communications that I have connected via ethernet and my "loading" is SLOW. What is the problem?

Usually what I see that really slows a computer down are windows updates errors. Startup your computer in safe mode and rename the %windir%\softwareDistribution to %windir%\softwaredistribution.old and then restart your computer and go to windows update.
Softkee, you might have a different issue does it hang for a bit, then quickly load a page. or does it hang and partially load pages? or does it just take a long time to start your browser?

Through your article, i think the most possibility is thay there are some viruses in your computer and i suggest you use one antivirus software to deal with it.

Well, maybe because your browser and windows system are not compatible, you'd better change your browser or maybe you can try the software tuneup360, which can help you solve all the computer problems.
