i want to display a javascript alert to prevent session time out. if the user doesnt click then the session automatically expires after 30 sec and if the user clicks the the session shouldnt expire

I think there is a logical problem. The session times out on the server and java script runs on the client! The only way I see so far is if you would transmit the time the session will time out top the client and then the javascript will use it to show a notification. Cheers Peter
