Thank you very much for the links. Both forums look great. Unfortunately neither seem to be compatibel with MySQL 5. vanilla states the MySQL extension isn't loaded (which it is) and metaforum stops at the checkdb-page.

May I ask, why doesn it have to be mysql 5?

I have all my software already running in MySQL 5 and PHP 5, so it would be quite a hassle to migrate all to MySQL 4

ah ok, and i take it that mysql 5 isn't backwards compatible :(

I have found Vanilla working with my software: MySQL v 5.1.11, PHP v 5.1.6, Apache v 2.0.55 on Windows XP Pro
There is only a tricky issue at signing in where you should check "Remember me" for it to work.

I'm using MySQL 5.0.27, PHP 5.2.0 Apache 2.2.2 and Windows XP Professional SP2.

Thank you all for your help and input. My problem is solved, I uncommented the mysql extension (I had only mysqli), after restarting the apache service they both work. thank you all very much
