harvgite

when i try to play msn videos i just get sound and a green screen ---this is also the case on fox

i have windows media 11 (same problem with 10)--and it seems to work okay---it is just the embedded videos in msn web sites and fox --i tried changing security settings , active x controls and disabling norton---i am running xp with i.e.7 and cox cable

Do you have the latest Flash Player installed on your computer? If you are talking about Fox the channel, they could be streaming the video through Macromedia Flash and if you are not updated it may cause problems....

I'm thinking it could be an encoding issue. Perhaps you need to update your encoding software or get it for a new video format.
Do you know exactly which format these videos are in? It isn't necessarily a windows media file just because windows media plays it (or tries to).
